Dick “Homer” Study ’60: “The three-and-a-half years in Sigma Nu were some of the happiest years in my life.”

When Dick “Homer” Study ’60 talks about his time in the Beta Rho Chapter, he does so with jocularity. “ I can’t say that Sigma Nu taught me anything,” he said, “except the value of friendship and loyalty.

“I had a ball,” he added.

In addition to having a great time in college, Homer also wasn’t afraid to do hard work for the chapter. “I graduated in 1960 and served as Commander in my senior year,” Homer said.

Perhaps it was the strength of the fellowship he felt with Sigma Nus that motivated his service to the chapter? “I liked all of my brothers,” he said. “Three favorites were Hart Davis ’59Ken Jacoppi ’59, and Art Ricker ’60.”

The friendships he made in college are still thriving today. Homer still gathers with brothers.

“I enjoy going back to Philly for a Christman party in December.  I hope we still have it

but some of us are getting a little old,” he joked. “Not me.”
